East Union registered its first wins of the season Friday in the Ted Yoneda Tournament at Arnaiz Stadium in Stockton.

The Lancers (2-0) capped off the day by handing Folsom a 10-3 defeat, which propelled them into today’s semifinal against Bear Creek at 1 p.m.

Michelle Castro, Savina Brandi and Alexis Erich combined for the victory. Cherish Burks went 2 of 3 and sophomore catcher Alejandra Rascon (two RBIs) also went 2 of 3 with a double and a triple.

East Union 7, Tokay 3

The freshman Erich went the distance and tossed eight strikeouts and hit a two-run home run in her first-ever varsity at-bat. Rascon went 3 of 3 with five RBIs and was a home run shy of getting the cycle.

“It was basically the (Rascon) show,” East Union head coach Brian Goulart said. “The defense played great and everyone contributed.”

East Union will play in the championship at 7 p.m. if it can defeat Bear Creek at 1 p.m. If the Lancers lose, they will play for third place at 5 p.m.

Sierra 6, Los Banos 0

Senior Allie Walljasper only gave up one hit and tossed 13 strikeouts. She also went 2 of 2 from the dish with two RBIs and two walks. Mariah Jurado went 1 of 2 for Sierra (2-0), which will play today at 3:15 p.m. against Enochs at the Ceres Bulldog Tournament. The T’Wolves will face Hughson at 5:30 p.m.

Sierra 3, Merced 0

The Timberwolves’ LSU-bound Walljasper no-hit the Bears during Sierra’s first win of the season. She also threw 10 strikeouts and went 2 of 2 with two RBIs and a walk. Freshman Maddie Penner went 1 of 3 with an RBI and Devi Coglio was 2 of 3. Kendelle Messersmith finished 1 of 2.

Ripon 6, Ben Holt Prep 0

The 3-0 Indians kept it rolling during the Linden Tournament and outhit their opponent 8-1. Ripon scored five in the bottom of the third and one more in the fourth. Ripon will play against the tournament host today at 1:30 p.m.

Manteca 29, Amador 0

The Buffaloes improved to 3-0 and Celina Cooper highlighted the onslaught with a home run. It wasn’t her first of the day, however. During the Buffaloes’ 21-0 win over Sonora in the morning, Cooper and Annissa Gonzalez both went deep against their Valley Oak League foes. Manteca will face Bear River at noon at the Argonaut Tournament and will either play again at 5 p.m. or 7 p.m.
