The Buffalo Cup champion met the consolation winner in Stockton on Tuesday, but both Manteca and Franklin were shorthanded because of spring break.

The low numbers affected Manteca more, as it suffered its first loss of the season, 2-0. Franklin (3-1-1) converted on a corner kick in the final minute of the opening half and widened the lead with a volley shot near the halfway point of the second.

Manteca, now 6-1, only had 12 players available for Tuesday’s contest, and tonight the Buffaloes will only suit up 11 as they welcome Lincoln.

“Franklin played well,” Manteca coach Justin Coenenberg said. “I didn’t get to see them play much in the tournament, but they have a lot of speed. We had opportunities to score but didn’t capitalize.”
