Manteca picked up its first Valley Oak League win of the season with its best score so far, beating Lathrop 247-305 on Manteca Park Golf Course’s par-37 front nine.

The Buffaloes (1-2) were paced by Justin Morrish’s strong effort, which included a tap-in birdie on the par-3 eighth hole. He finished with a 40.

The four lowest scores of the match came from Manteca. Gus LaDue placed second with a 44, Brandon Ramirez followed with a 47 and Donal Hinkston chipped in a 51. Ray Gallardo was the Buffaloes’ final contributor with a 65.

Brothers Geoff and Sam Fallon spearheaded the visiting Spartans with a 55 and 56, respectively. Andres Munoz (64), Nick Berndt (65) and Matt Fallon (65) made up the rest of their score.

Only seven strokes separated the low medalist and throw-away scorer in what Chris Musseman said could be the Ripon’s best total at Jack Tone Golf Course in his time as head coach.

Nick Sharp’s 1-over 32 led the way for the Indians (3-0). Michael Miller, a senior in his first go-around with the starting six, was the runner-up with a 33. Robby Figeroid (35), Anthony Matthews (35) and Nathan Suender (36) followed, with Cole Gonzlaes (39) carding the throw-out score.

Ryan Sauls and Anthony Helou turned in a 34 and 35 for Modesto Christian, respectively.

Ripon Christian’s Kyle Colyn and Andrew Manes both finished 2-over 38, and Jesse DeRousse contributed a 42 at Spring Creek Golf & Country Club. Drew Baker and Vance Sipma rounded out the team score with a 52 and 56, respectively.

David Ortloff led Big Valley Christian with a 41.
