So how has the City of Manteca responded to the California drought emergency and Gov. Brown’s plea for all Californians to reduce water consumption by 20 percent?

Well, for January the city set a new record consumption of 245 million gallons.

City staff believes the upswing was due to unseasonable warm weather, below average rainfall prompting landscape irrigation to start early and a jump in water being used to keep construction dust down.
