Super Bowl XLIII involving the Arizona Cardinals against the Pittsburgh Steelers kicks off locally at 3:20 p.m. on Sunday.

Some folks have already made plans to attend private gatherings. Others are set on a quiet afternoon of watching the National Football League championship game at Tampa’s Raymond James stadium.

You can go out to breakfast and help the Manteca Mural Society and the Manteca Rotary community service projects before watching the Arizona Cardinals take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And, if you’ve got no plans for a party at home, you can hit a variety of hot spots in Manteca catering to football fans.

The third annual Super Bowl Omelet Breakfast at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane, is from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. is an all-out blitz when it comes to good food and Super Bowl atmosphere. The senior center is decorated in Super Bowl fashion for the Manteca Mural Society and Manteca Rotary Club event.

 Tickets are $6 in advance or $7 at the door. Tickets are available at Tipton’s Stationery & Gifts, Oliver-Simas Insurance, JJ Printing, Quiki Clean Car Wash, Manteca Chamber of Commerce, and Manteca Convention Visitors Bureau, any Rotarian or call Tom Wilson at 825-4700.

Chezi Shari’s starts at 3 p.m.
The classiest venue for viewing the Super Bowl – Chez Shari’s on the second floor of the Manteca golf course that offers a sweeping view from the verandah during TV timeouts – starts Sunday at 3 p.m.

It includes free food and $1 draft beer – Bud, Bud Light, and Amber Bock.

And, yes, there is a big screen TV. You can make a day of it.

Fun gets underway at 2 p.m. at Rocko’s
Rocko’s Sports & Spirits owner J.D. Willis has an all-you-can-eat crab feast served alongside with oysters beginning at 2 p.m. at his establishment located at 757 N. Main St.

Included will be door prizes, raffle, and free rides home for those partying a bit too hearty.

Rocko’s also features 10 television screens including a 13-foot projection unit.

“Seating is limited,” Willis said. “We usually sell out (on this annual event).”

X-treme Super Bowl party at 2:30 p.m.

This year’s Super Bowl will again feature its share of entertaining commercials along with a half-time show featuring a performance by rocker Bruce Springsteen.

The US Air Force Thunderbirds are scheduled to return by making a spectacular flyover just prior to kickoff.
