Danelle (Liles) Bishop’s coaching career reached new heights Tuesday when she led the Cal Poly Pomona women’s basketball team to an 81-61 win over Edinboro of Edinboro, Pa. in front of a partisan crowd at Erie Insurance Arena in Erie, Pa.

The victory advances the top-seeded Broncos (26-6) to their first NCAA Division II Final Four appearance since 2002. The West Region champions take on undefeated Bentley (33-0) of Waltham, Mass. Tonight at 5:30 p.m.

National Player of the Year finalist Jada Blackwell led Cal Poly Pomona with 35 points and nine rebounds.

Bishop is also up for a major award, as she is one of eight finalists for the inaugural Pat Summitt Trophy, which goes to the Russell Athletic/WBCA NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year. The 1994 East Union High graduate is now 225-118 overall (Azusa Pacific, Cal Baptist) and 87-33 in her fourth year at CPP
