Things are looking up for East Union with the return of Nick Roundsville to the roster.

One bad hole led to his 44 score on the par-37 front nine of Manteca Park Golf Course on Thursday, but it was plenty enough for the Lancers to complete a season sweep of rival Sierra 219-240. Roundsville was part of the starting six for East Union’s 2013 Valley Oak League championship team.

“He could have had a much better score had he not taken a 7 on a par 3, but it’s good to have him back,” East Union coach Dennis Wells said.

Fellow sophomore Trevor Baum was the co-leader with a 40. Sierra’s Blake Settlemoir was the other first-place finisher.

Clayton Dorland and Eric Lewis both shot a 43 for the Lancers (7-2). Michael Lozano checked in with a 46, and Manuel Telles carded the throw-out score of 47.

Sierra (6-3) took a step backward Thursday after turning in one of its best scores of the season just the day before, when it shot a 219 on its home course against Lathrop.

Following Settlemoir were Matt Rose (46), Chris Schmitz (49), Chuck Good (51), Isaac Gutierrez (54) and David Ketner (54).

Manteca 229,
Lathrop 241

Host Lathrop (1-8) recorded its best score of the season at French Camp Golf Course.

Low medalist Justin Morrish finished 5-over 37, and runner-up Brandon Ramirez added a 40 for Manteca (3-5). Gus LaDue (46), Donal Hinkston (49) and Truman Twidwell (57) were the rest of the Buffaloes’ scorers.

Lathrop’s Geoff Fallon placed third overall with a 43. Sam Fallon carded 47, Nick Berndt a 59, Matt Fallon a 51 and Andres Munoz a 51
