Manteca picked up its second victory in as many days despite minimal rest after getting back into town late Thursday.

The Buffaloes bounced back with plenty of energy on Friday, improving to 4-0 in Valley Oak League play and 11-2 overall after an eight-run second inning highlighted a 13-3 win over Sonora.

“Very proud of our approach at the plate,” Manteca head coach Neil MacDannald said. “We hit the ball hard all day and finally got a few of them to fall. I am also happy with the intensity we played with given the fact that we got back from Sonora at 11:30 p.m., (Thursday) night.”

Four of Manteca’s batters finished with two hits: Michael Garibay (2 for 3, RBI), Ezequiel Diaz (2 for 4, six RBIs), Buddy Reeder (2 for 4, two RBIs) and Alex Garlets (2 for 3, three runs).

Lucas Vaughn threw for 4 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits. He also threw six strikeouts with two walks and Dillon Lauborough tossed one strikeout to get the close.

The Buffaloes, who will face Oakdale in next week’s series, tacked on two more in the third and fourth and finished the 10-run mercy rule with one more run in the bottom of five.

Sonora (0-3, 6-6) received a 2-for-3 performance, including three RBIs from Joseph Kish.

Kyle Emerson scored on Brandon Ridgewell’s RBI-triple and Ridgewell got home to make it 2-0. Lathrop (0-4, 1-13) got one back in the bottom of two after Santiago Kantun scored on Keenan Donatelli-Bryant’s RBI-single.

East Union went up 4-1 in the fourth and pulled ahead 6-2 with a two-run top of the fifth. The Lancers, who will play against Sierra next week, tacked on three more in the sixth and seventh innings.

Marco Gonzales led the Lancers as he went 3 for 3 with two walks and three runs. Gabe Chavez went 2 for 4 with two runs. Carols Estrada (1 for 3) scored twice for Lathrop as well. The Spartans will square up with Weston Ranch next week.

“We made some mental mistakes that helped EU, but give them credit they hit the ball over the place,” Lathrop head coach Randy Baltazar concluded.
