East Union drubs Lathrop

Freshman pitcher Alexis Erich twirled a one-hitter, and Jordan Vinson swatted three doubles in East Union’s 11-0 mercy-shortened win at Lathrop on Wednesday.

Vinson finished 3 for 4 and drove in four RBIs, hitting two two-out doubles in the process.

“We had a lot of two-out clutch hits today,” East Union coach Brian Goulart said.

Cherish Burks and Samantha Owens both went 2 for 4, with Burks hitting a home run. Owens nearly legged out a homer of her own but was thrown out at the plate.

Alejandra Rascon added two hits and a two-RBI double.

Erich registered seven strikeouts, and the only hit she yielded was a triple by Desiree Mendola.

East Union (7-1 Valley Oak League, 13-1 overall) plays host to Kimball on Friday at Northgate Softball Complex.

Sierra 12, Sonora 0

Three Sierra pitchers combined to face one batter over the minimum in five-inning shutout at Sonora (0-8, 1-14).

Ace Allie Walljasper struck out nine over the first three innings, Lexus Barnes fanned one in the fourth and Taylor Moss fired two strikeouts in the fifth.

Walljasper also hammered two homers while driving in five RBIs at the plate. Mariah Jurado and Maddie Penner added two hits apiece.

The Timberwolves (5-2, 9-3) head to Oakdale on Friday with hopes of avenging one of their two league losses.

Oakdale 9, Manteca 1

The VOL-leading Mustangs (8-0, 14-1) made host Manteca (4-4, 7-6) pay for its four errors and cashed in with five unearned runs. They scored their first three runs in the second and broke it open with four more in the fifth.

Annissa Gonzalez plated Morgan Miramontes for the Buffaloes’ lone run in the top of the fourth to make it 5-1. Manteca was limited to four hits by Oakdale pitcher Rylie Pena.

Kimball 9,
Weston Ranch 2

The Cougars (2-6, 7-8) scored both of their runs in the top of the fourth inning on Arianna Hernandez’s two-run single to close in 3-2, but Kimball (4-3, 7-5) erupted for three-run rallies in the fifth and sixth to run away with it.

Elysia Hernandez, Arianna Hernandez and Mia Thurman each rapped out two hits.

Freshman

East Union 10, Pitman 5

Kenzie Ackerman and LaEssa Pierce both went 2 for 3 as the Lancers improved to 3-0 VOL, 11-0 overall. Monica Hansen finished 2 for 4 for East Union, which will be at Kimball Friday.
