Ripon rallied for seven runs in the first two innings and never looked back in a 10-2 rout of host Riverbank on Tuesday.

The Indians (5-2 Trans-Valley League, 8-6-1 overall) were aided by seven errors but also rapped out 15 hits. Eight of their nine starters contributed at least one hit.

Josh Clark set the tone with the game’s first hit and first run in the opening inning. He would finish 4 for 4 with two steals, two runs and two RBIs. Trent Murphy and Angelo Baciocco were both 2 for 3, and Caleb Rogers plated three runs. Michael Ysit drilled a triple in the fifth inning and was driven by a Clark single three pitches later.

Rogers was the winning pitcher, striking out 10 while scattering five hits in five innings. C.J. Little threw two perfect innings in relief.

Rafa Verdin went the distance for winless Riverbank (0-7, 0-10). Only four of the 10 runs he allowed were earned. Tristan Rodgers finished 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI.

The back end of the two-game set is today at Ripon.

A four-spot in the bottom of the third was more than enough for starting pitcher Dominic Pisano to work with.

The junior lefty dominated the Mother Lode League-leading Lions (13-7) in six innings, striking out 12 against one walk and four hits. Michael Garibay pitched the top of the seventh and preserved the shutout.

“Dom threw really well today,” Manteca coach Neil MacDannald said. “Their lineup is very good top to bottom and to deal the way he did was impressive. He seems to get better with guys on base too, not that there were a ton of them, but he is great under pressure.”

Manteca tagged Linden standout Justin Giovannoni for eight hits, two coming off the bat of Garibay. Ezequiel Diaz keyed the third-inning rally with a two-run knock, and he would later plate another.

“I am very proud of the way we competed,” MacDannald said. “Giovannoni is very good and we wre able to put the ball in play well against him.”
