SANTA ROSA (AP) — A 10-year-old Northern California boy fired a plastic pellet at three of his classmates on Tuesday.

Sonoma County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Brown says the incident occurred around noon at Wright Charter School in Santa Rosa, Calif., and that no one was injured.

Brown says a 9-year-old boy had brought the clear plastic gun to school in order to trade it with the 10-year-old, who then shot three fellow students with it.

Police said the incident is not being investigated as a crime.

The gun’s plastic pellets are a little bigger than BBs.

Wright Charter School Principal Laurie Whiteside says the pellet gun was confiscated from the boy as soon as school officials learned about it.
