Consumers from the Manteca Community Action Program and Services look forward to the annual luncheons put together by Sister Ann Venita Britto and her Ministry of Caring.

Just ask Laura Hutson, Manteca CAPS assistant program director. “They’re always asking about it come this time of the year,” she said Monday at the St. Anthony School cafeteria.

About 30 adults with development disabilities from the 178 S. Austin Road campus enjoyed the New Year event meal consisting of pizza, chocolate dessert, ice cream and drinks. They also played games, music and danced.

“It was a good time,” Hutson added. “They came away extremely happy.”

As for Sister Ann and her Ministry of Caring, they not only organized the event but also put together each of the penguin center pieces.

The prizes for the drawing consisted of knit caps, assorted candies, and Christmas ornaments, to name a few.

The effort by Sister Ann and her Ministry of Caring is that of love and compassion.

Several times a year, Sister Ann’s group organizes luncheon events servicing seniors from throughout the area while often incorporating the holiday or time of the season as the theme.

These luncheons are open to all groups regardless of religious affiliation or belief.
