Elvira “Ruth” Espinoza, age 60, entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2014, in Baltimore, MD, of an acute lung infection.  Born in San Mateo, CA to the late Jose and Ruth Espinoza, she is now reunited in heaven with her parents and her adored sister, Angelina Espinoza.
Ruth leaves behind her husband and best friend Henry “Harry” Logan of Wake Forest, NC, her sisters Virginia Espinoza of Fairfield and Carmen Espinoza of Manteca, and brother Henry Espinoza and wife Dolores of Madera. She was blessed with four nieces and nephews: Joey, Bernadette, Enrique Espinoza and Eileen Gutknecht.     Although Ruth had no children of her own, she was proud to be the stepmother to Harry’s son and daughter, Kyle and Shauna, and was adored as Gramma Ruth by their five children: Max, Maura, Peter, Darby, and Delilah.
Ruth was a resident of North Carolina, but in her earlier years called Manteca home. She attended the local grammar schools and graduated with the class of 1972 from East Union High School. Ruth then went on to Fresno State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1977 and a Master of Science in Nursing in 1983. Remaining in Fresno until 1987, she taught nursing at Fresno City College, worked at Fresno Community Hospital and Fresno Veteran’s Administration Hospital.  Ruth then chose to expand her horizons and embarked upon a 22 year career in the Air Force that had her serving in five states and three foreign countries, retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 2009. Ruth had many highlights and significant accomplishments in her Air Force career, but her proudest and most rewarding duty was providing care to our brave wounded soldiers during her 2005 tour of duty in Iraq.
Although the grief the family feels at her sudden passing is overwhelming, our memories of her love, her caring spirit, and her delightful sense of humor will sustain us in the years ahead.  With the grace of God, may our beloved Ruth rest in eternal peace.
