CERES – Sierra High trailed the Ceres Bulldogs by four heading into the intermission, but a blistering hot third quarter provided the Timberwolves with all the separation they would need in their 59-53 win over the host Bulldogs.

“We came out and played much better defense in the second half,” Sierra head coach Justin Muschott said. “We were able to hold them to just five points in the third quarter and that was huge for us.”

Sierra (2-0 VOL, 6-4 overall) was led by Joseph Berry’s 19 points and Johnny Waggy came in behind him with 11. Kayson Matela added nine and Mike Leland chipped in with eight.

Now the Timberwolves will try and push it to three straight in league and five overall when they play host to the East Union Lancers Friday.

“It’s nice going into that game playing well and having a little bit of momentum,” Muschott said. “It really should be a battle.”
