Ripon High’s coed tennis team had its way with Forest Lake Christian on Monday, blanking the Sierra Delta League champion in Auburn, 9-0.

The Indians await the winner of today’s Placer-Modesto Christian match in next Monday’s quarterfinal round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Team Tournament. Placer is the defending champion of this bracket.

Only one match went a third set in Monday’s second-round contest. The No. 2 boys doubles tandem of Davis Armstrong and Isaiah Sanchez held off Austin Smith and Jacob Shisler, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3).

The Indians had strong efforts from their three TVL champions. League singles titlist Bryce Coutrakis cruised past Mitchel Gruner 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 boys matchup. Jeremy Parks outlasted Scott Gauthier 6-4, 6-4 in the battle of 1s. His super doubles partner Nathan Machado teamed with Ian Flanders, and they dominated their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.

The girls handled their business as well.

Savannah Bickle thumped Jessica Burnett 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 match. Maddison Flanders also cruised, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles action, Shannon Wesley and Hailey-Rae Rose won 6-3, 6-1, and Hailey Johnson and Alyssa Demara prevailed, 6-3, 6-0.

Will Hollingsworth and Teresa Martinez triumphed in the mixed-doubles contest, 6-3, 6-3.
