For her senior project, Manteca High’s Amy Cross is organizing a scramble golf tournament.

The four-person team event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, at 8:30 a.m. at the Manteca Park Golf Course.

Entry fee for the “Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Tournament” is $75 per person. Included will be prizes along with a drawing.

As a member of the Buffalo girls’ golf squad for the past four years, Cross said that 100 percent of the profits raised from the tournament will go to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer awareness.

Her grandmother is a survivor after being diagnosed with breast cancer about two years ago at age 88.

“You’re never too young or too old (to get breast cancer),” she said.

Nor is this disease just for women.

Cross, according to her research, discovered about 2,000 cases a year of men with breast cancer.

“My hope is to get a minimum of 50 golfers for this tournament,” she said.

Donations for the cause will also be taken that day.

Those willing to help out with a monetary contribution can also do so by contacting Amy or her mother, Missy, who is also her parent advisor, at (209) 823-8119.
