CSUS Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society adds 73 members

The California State University, Stanislaus chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi held its annual initiation ceremony May 2 to welcome 73 new student initiates — the most in the chapter’s 16-year history — and six new faculty and administration initiates.

 Membership in Phi Kappa Phi — the nation’s oldest, largest and most selective all-discipline honor society — is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. It is open to:

• The top 7.5 percent of juniors by department, with a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.75; 

• The top 10 percent of seniors by department, with a minimum GPA of 3.75; 

• the top 10 percent of graduate students by department, with a minimum GPA of 3.85 and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.60; and 

• faculty members and administrators who have achieved scholarly distinction.  

New junior members include Maira Lisset Campos, Manteca, Child Development; and Fatima Serrato, Lathrop, Nursing. 

New senior members include Kristyn Faye Brummel, Escalon, Kathryn Dahlgren, Ripon, Computer Science; and Katie Michelle den Dulk, Ripon.

Simpson University Dean’s List students

REDDING — Simpson University named more than 250 students to the Dean’s List for the spring 2014 semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must have a semester grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.

The following local students were named to the Dean’s List:

• Ashley Espericueta of Manteca, Psychology.

• Ciara Jones of Manteca, Psychology.

• Kendra Kaiserman of Manteca, Communication.

Simpson inductees  into Honor Society

REDDING — Three students were inducted into the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society chapter at Simpson University.

To be eligible for Phi Alpha Theta, a student must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours (4 courses) in history, achieve a minimum GPA of 3.1 in history courses, and an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. 

The following local students were inducted:

Students on Dean’s List at Seattle Pacific Univ.

SEATTLE – The following students made the Seattle Pacific University 2014 Winter Quarter Dean’s List. 

Students on the Dean’s List have completed at least 12 credits and attained a 3.50 or higher grade point average. Founded in 1891, Seattle Pacific University is a leading Christian university that equips people to engage the culture and change the world. Its comprehensive academic program serves more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
