Emma Lewis is officially the last girls’ varsity swimmer still alive this season.

The Ripon standout was the only area swimmer to punch a ticket to Saturday’s Sac-Joaquin Section girls swimming finals after finishing in the top 16 in the 50-yard freestyle Thursday at Tokay High in Lodi.

Lewis, who is the Valley Oak League champion in the 100 free and 100-yard backstroke, also qualified for the consolations for the varsity girls’ 100 free.

Sierra’s 400-yard free relay team of Amy Windschitl, Rachel Holmstrom, Natalie Jamero and Natalie Randolph just missed on making it to the finals by three slots, finishing 19th after being seeded 43rd.

Ripon’s Maddie Hawes took fourth in the frosh-soph girls’ 50 free and fifth in the 100. Hannah Sweet made the finals in the frosh-soph 100-yard breaststroke and 200-free finals.

Sierra’s Vanessa Flores posted personal-best times in the 50 and 100 free frosh-soph races, but they weren’t enough to make it back on Saturday.

The boys’ swimming trials will be held today at Tokay High in Lodi.
