Three Ripon Indians competed in varsity events during Saturday’s Sac-Joaquin Section swimming finals at Tokay High in Lodi, but Sierra’s Scott Tolman winning a pair of frosh-soph section titles certainly turned some heads as well.

Tolman won the boys’ frosh-soph section championship in the 50-yard freestyle (21.61) and the 100-yard breaststroke (57.23).

For varsity, Ripon’s Zach Scudder took seventh in the 200-yard freestyle consolations with a 1-minute, 44.93-second finish. Scudder also took seventh in the championships of the 100 breast (59.39).

Emma Lewis placed seventh in the girls’ 50 free (24.99) and sixth in the 100 free consolations (54.65).

Corey Winter took fifth in consolations for the 100-yard backstroke (54.84).

At the frosh soph level, Hanna Sweet finished third in the 100 breast (1:09.63). Maddie Hawes took eighth in the 50 free (26.05) and she also took eighth in the 100 free (56.75).

Ripon’s Daniel Esenwein took sixth in consolations of the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.92).

Sierra’s Trevor Fast took fourth in consolations with a 57.01 in the 100-yard butterfly.

Sierra’s boys’ 200-yard medley relay team of Fast, Tolman, Neil Sandberg and John Buanauro took fourth with a 1:45.14. Sierra’s 200 free relay team won consolations with a 1:36.20 and the Ripon girls’ 200 free relay team took seventh in consolations.
