Ripon Christian Middle School graduated 50 eighth graders Thursday night in a packed high school gymnasium.

Music Director Bob DeRuiter set the mood with his Middle School Band playing on the floor of the basketball court as students marched into the building from adjacent doors on opposite sides of the facility.

Schools Superintendent Kerry Manus led the students and parents in an opening prayer giving thanks  for the education of the Class of 2014 most of who will be going on to Ripon Christian high school in the fall.

Many of the students competed in writing a class speech with the winner being Sydney McMurray who stepped up to the podium with her presentation on the class theme: “Hearts to Love, Hands to Serve.”  It was a speech that was well accepted by her classmates and the parents and friends in the audience as well.

The keynote speaker talking directly to the graduates was Geg Cady.

The class awards were presented by K-8 Principal MaryAnn Sybesma and the diplomas were presented by board members Sue Eastham, Becky Hoekstra and Kevin Prins.  The event ended with the students singing their class song, “Proof of Your Love.”
