For Suzanne McCreath, the days of being vice principal of two elementary schools in Manteca Unified will end at the beginning of school in August. That’s when she will assume her new post as principal of French Camp Elementary.

The announcement of McCreath’s promotion was announced last week at the Board of Trustees meeting. Her husband, Doug, former Manteca High School assistant principal and currently assistant superintendent of educational services at San Joaquin County Office of Education, and their children were present during the announcement.

The French Camp school campus is no stranger to McCreath. The school in the unincorporated county area north of Lathrop was one of the two schools that she was service as vice principal. The other was Lincoln Elementary School on East Yosemite Avenue in Manteca.

As vice principal of both elementary sites, her responsibilities included assisting site principals in managing the two campuses, helping maintain records and reports for the district, state, county and federal programs, as well as assisting in the evaluation of staff in the implementation of curriculum and teaching strategies.

Prior to becoming vice principal, McCreath was a program coordinator assigned to Sequoia Elementary School and had 13 years experience as a teacher in Manteca Unified and Ripon Unified School District as well as Reading Recovery teacher, Reading First teacher, and teacher in a classroom serving autistic students.

A graduate of California State University, San Jose, McCreath received her teaching credential through Chapman University in 1997. She completed the necessary requirements for her Master’s Degree and Administrative Services Credential at Chapman/Brandman University in 2011.

Outgoing French Camp School Principal Joanne Balestreri, in her letter of recommendation for McCreath, commented, “I believe that Mrs. McCreath could effectively and passionately lead French Camp School. Mrs. McCreath has my respect and my highest recommendation.”
