RIPON — Ripon came to life in the third inning Wednesday to score six runs and added another four in the fourth inning on the way to a 12-2 four-inning shellacking of Oakdale in the Cal Ripken Central California District 1 10-under Tournament at Veteran’s Park in Ripon.

Ripon led just 2-1 entering the four-hit third when the first eight batters reached base. Malik Taylor and Korbin Hodgson each had two-RBI singles in the frame for Ripon. Anthony Sausedo and Damian Sandoval both bunted their way on in the inning and all but Hodgson came in to score.

Pinch hitter Dylan Rosa had a two-RBI double for Ripon in the fourth and Sandoval added a two-RBI single while Taylor and Elijah Shepperd doubled before the game was stopped via the mercy rule after Oakdale went scoreless in the bottom of the inning.

Sausedo finished 3 for 3 with two runs scored, Sandoval was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI and Taylor was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI. 

Hodgson started and pitched three innings, allowing only two hits while striking out two. Sandoval pitched the fourth and struck out the side.



Little League Minors

Spreckels Park Red Sox 15, Northgate Nationals 12

 The Red Sox scored five runs in the top of the sixth and shut the Nationals down in the bottom of the inning to pull off the come-from-behind victory in consolation action of the District 67 Minor Tournament of Champions hosted by SpreckelsPark at Brock Elliott School.

Caden Salas (2 for 3, triple, RBI, run) singled to start off the sixth for the Red Sox followed by a single by Steven Aquila and a hit batter. Aiden Burk added a two-run single and A.J. Anderson had an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Dacota House shut down Northgate in the bottom of the sixth with two strikeouts followed by a walk and a groundout.

Joshua Brake was 2 for 4 for Spreckels Park with an RBI, double and two runs.

The Red Sox face Mountain House this afternoon at 5:30 on Field 2 at Brock Elliott School.
