Domino’s bringing ‘pizza theater’

All the great local pizza restaurants offer up a table for you to enjoy their wares.

Round Table. Mountain Mike’s. Straw Hat. Domino’s.

Wait. What?

Yes. By the end of August not only will Manteca once again have a Domino’s Pizza location, but it’ll be the first “Pizza Theater” franchise in the entire Central Valley – following in the age old tradition of providing customers with the dine-in experience that makes going out for pizza half the fun.

That means high-top bars and fun stools and a state-of-the-art approach to a business that has been whipping up pies for hungry customers for more than five decades.

And the man that’s putting it all together truly worked his way up from the bottom.

Greg DeGrandis, who will count Manteca as his fourth franchise, started delivering pizzas for the company in 1999. When the opportunity presented itself to take a step towards opening his own franchise, he did so – and kept right on going. In just 15 years with the company he is a four-restaurant franchisee with the distinguished honor of being the first to offer the unique and fun concept.

“Domino’s has delivered, to me and my family, the dream of now owning and operating my own business,” DeGrandis said in a press release. “We hope everyone will come see the new store design, meet our fantastic team embers and enjoy a memorable experience.”

The new layout will include a state-of-the-art system that will allow takeout customers to track their orders electronically on a lobby screen and will provide free Wi-Fi, family board games and big screen televisions to enhance the experience. Chalkboards will also be available for those needing a creative outlet or looking to leave feedback for the employees.

A new business also means new jobs.

The company is currently planning on conducting interviews in the coming weeks to fill the necessary positions to make an August grand opening possible.

The restaurant will be located at 107 W. North Street – at the intersection of North and Main Streets – directly across from Luu’s Chicken Bowl. The building, at one point, was a True Value Hardware store.
