WESTON RANCH – Things are continuing to fall into place for the Weston Ranch boys basketball squad, which added another Valley Oak League victory to its record with a 66-48 win over Oakdale Saturday.

Nate Moises led four Cougars in double-figures with 15 points. Moises battled back from early foul trouble to pace the Cougars over the final 16 minutes when he scored all of his points. Marcus Woods nailed four 3-pointers on his way to 14 and both Griffin Alexander and Ronnie Collins finished with 12.

“On any given night, we don’t know who is going to step up for us,” Weston Ranch head coach Ryan Bono said. “Marcus Woods is playing real well and set the tone for us offensively tonight. Coming off a big game against Sierra, this was a trap game.

“We came out a little bit sluggish but played really well in the second half.”

Jacob Martinez led Oakdale with 12, while teammate Daniel Linder finished with 11.

Sierra 66, Central Valley 46
CERES — The Timberwolves were able to shrug off a sluggish start and close out the first quarter on a 19-0 run in their VOL win over Central Valley Saturday.

Sierra (5-3, 12-7) used the dominating post play of William Ward and David Keating to blow past the Hawks with ease.

Ward led all scorers with 23 points and Keaton finished with 14. Ward also made his presence felt on the glass, pulling down a team-high 14 rebounds in the win.

The Timberwolves were able to bounce back after a disheartening loss to Weston Ranch Friday night, giving the squad some momentum heading into a tough road matchup with Sonora Wednesday.

“We had some pretty good balance and were able to do some things well,” Sierra head coach Scott Thomason said. “We are still very sloppy and we didn’t execute real well, but we overcame it with our inside presence of David Keating and Will Ward.”

East Union 71, Lathrop 31
LAHTROP – The Lancers (3-4, 8-9) came out hot scoring 19 in each of the first two quarters on their way to a comfortable victory over the Lathrop Spartans Saturday.

Robert Vaughn led all scorers with 16 points and Ken Ramos added 10 for East Union. The Lancers put things away with an 18-3 run in the third period, sealing the deal and getting the reserves some action.

Tyler Bylow chipped in eight for the Lancers and Ricky Inderbitzin finished with nine.

Umar Murrisat led the Spartans (0-8, 0-18) with 15 points, while Aivery Lewis added nine.
