Calvary Reformed Church is looking to host an end of the summer block party.

However, this event will require elected leaders to OK a request to close off Second Street between Vera Avenue on Sunday, Aug. 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

They’re scheduled to discuss this item consisting of a special permit application to the city at tonight’s Ripon City Council meeting.

The open session begins at 7 p.m. inside the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

According to the application, the block party will feature games, carnival rides, live music, free food and an antique / muscle car show.

Any street closure for a special event requires approval from Council.

A Special Events Committee has already met with church officials on the application.

Calvary Reformed Church is at 741 Second St.
