Ken was a farmer for most of his life, growing almonds, grapes, and doing custom almond hulling.  He served as a volunteer with the Ripon Fire Department from 1964-1972.  Ken was an avid golfer and a member of Spring Creek Golf and Country Club in Ripon where he was a past member of the Ripon Cup Team.  He also belonged to Palm Desert Resort Country Club in Palm Desert.  He attended Calvary Reformed Church in Ripon and Southwest Community Church in Palm Desert.
Ken is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, and his parents Bill and Josie De Jong.  He is survived by his companion, Patt Gililland, and his children and their spouses; Julie and David DeAraujo, Craig and Beth De Jong, and Janelle and Mike Gallagher.  He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Ken is also survived by his sisters Audrey (Steve) Hofman, Kathy (Jim) Stuart, Charlene De Jong, and his brother Bill (Kathy) De Jong.
Visitation will be held at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel (111 S. Palm) on Sunday, July 20, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.  Burial will take place at Ripon Cemetery (102 S. Stockton Ave.) on Monday, July 21 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Reformed Church (741 W.
