What are you doing this weekend?

How much does a hipster weigh? An Instagram. Taking artsy photos, applying filters and showing them to the world through a handy app on your phone it’s not a hipster thing anymore, but mainstream as it can be. Everyone with a smartphone can be a photographer now and by using the right #hashtags you can easily become #instafamous. If you are taking pictures predominantly in the Stockton area, it’s time to meet your fellow ‘gramers. Instagram accounts @StocktonCA and @sonofasignman are organizing their third InstaMeet, where people get to see each other in real life and interact with friends whose pictures they “like” on a daily basis. InstaMeet 3: Arts&Culture is set for Friday, July 25, at 7 p.m. on the rooftop of French 25 (110 N. El Dorado Street, Stockton). You’ll get to listen to live music, sip delicious cocktails and view many art pieces, including paintings, photographs, sculptures and more. #seeYaThere Price: FREE Learn more at

To make it even more fun, John’s Incredible Pizza wants you to capture all your clumsy dance moves on Instagram for a chance to win a $100 John’s Gift Card! Wouldn’t a couple of minutes of fun (and little embarrassment) in front of a camera be worth it? Practice your dance moves, try your luck in the contest and eat pizza on Saturday, July 26, from 4 p.m. Price: $4.99 - $10.49 Learn more at

To see historical buildings in the heart of Sacramento is nothing unusual, but to see people riding on wagons dressed in 19th century clothes through the streets of Sacramento may be a little strange. Unless, of course, you know what’s going on. For the fifth consecutive summer, past will be mingling with the present in Old Sacramento every weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – and you can be a part of it. There may be a murder or there may be kidnapping, spontaneous performances and funny skits are fully expected from this fun street theater program. It’s dubbed Time Travel Weekends, because with authentic buildings surrounding the talented performers you would think you literally traveled back in time. And their street performances full of heroes and villains are not enough for you, head over to the Eagle Theatre for their Old West stage show full of friendly banter and old school tricks. Yee-haw, rodeo is coming! But you don’t have to travel far too see it; the other side of the freeway will do it. The Professional Bull Riders and Bass Pro Shops are teaming up to host a PBR family event this weekend at the Manteca store. On Saturday, July 26, a free cowboy hat light-up key chain will be given to the first 100 kids. They can take part in fun activities, make crafts, get their faces painted and even try their hand at bull roping. On Sunday, July 27, dress your children into their best cowboy or cowgirl attire so they can participate in the best dressed “Cowboy or Cowgirl Contest” on Sunday, July 27. Judging will begin at 2:30 p.m. and efforts of one lucky cowboy (or cowgirl) will be rewarded with a $50 Bass Pro Shops gift card. Price: FREE Learn more here
