Michael Restuccia, a one-time mayor, is again in the running for a seat on the Ripon City Council.

He’s joined by newcomer Shane Smith, who is listed as an educator and businessman, as a challenger to the two available posts.

Incumbent Dean Uecker, as of Wednesday, has yet to file papers with the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office in Stockton. He mentioned several months ago about his intention of seeking re-election.

Mayor Chuck Winn won’t be back. Instead, he’s vying for the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisor post.

Winn is in a runoff with Lodi business owner Russ Munson for District 4 in the fall.

Those filing nomination papers are required to submit forms and fees by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at the SJC Registrar of Voters office, 44 N. San Joaquin St.

On the school board, incumbents Christopher ‘Kit’ Oase and Ernie Tyhurst are both on the November ballot. However, this time they’ll be representatives of the newly redistricted Ripon Unified Area 3 and Area 2, respectively.

Chad Husky, who serves of a variety of school committees – included is the voter-approved Measure G Committee – is looking to be the Area 1 representative.
