While most of Manteca was glued to their televisions watching the Super Bowl,  Manteca Police patrolman Mike Espinosa was stopping a car in the 300 block of Mikesell Street that turned away from him and into an alley in mid block.
Soon backed up by officer Elliott Eichel,  Espinosa found stolen bank mail from Washington Mutual that allegedly had been taken from a home on Sequoia Avenue – as well as mail from other area homes.
Electronics equipment ranging from GPS units to two laptop computers  were located in the 1992 Dodge Stratus, police said.  Filling five bags – some had already been reported stolen.
Officers arrested Jimmy Thomas Nieto, 24, of Manteca already on probation for assault and for robbery.
