MURPHYS — The 18th annual Ironstone Concours d’Elegance will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys.

The Ironstone Concours d’Elegance Foundation - the annual antique and classic car show - takes place at the beautiful grounds of Ironstone Vineyards in the gold country of the Sierra Nevada. The Concours d’Elegance features 300 antique and classic cars, as well as vintage trailers and motorcycles. The featured car for 2014 is the Dodge Firebomb. Vehicles marquees vary and include Stutz, Packard, Duesenberg, Pierce-Arrow, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Jaguar.  Special classes spotlight early Fords, sports cars, exotics, racecars, coach built luxury marquees, plus un-restored and original automobiles. The Ford Mustang, celebrating their 50th Anniversary, is also being honored.

More than 3,000 visitors enjoy the beauty of the automobiles in the ambiance of the stunning landscape on the grounds of Ironstone Family Winery, located at 1894 Six Mile Road, Murphys.  General admission tickets are $20per person. Children under 14 admitted free.

A creative new addition to the 2014 show will be plein air painters scattered throughout the beautiful grounds of Ironstone.  Each artist will capture on canvas the landscape, as well as the classic cars on display. Judie Cain-Papais, of Cain Art Studio in Murphys is organizing the participation of these talented plein air painters.

Additional activities throughout the weekend include Dinner Under the Stars and the Annual Gala Luncheon.

Dinner Under the Stars is held on Friday evening, Sept. 26.  Featuring wine tasting from local wineries, a delicious buffet and a lively auction, guest will also enjoy getting a sneak peak at some of the early arrival vehicles. Tickets are $75 per person.

Jeffrey D. Armstrong, President of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, will be keynote speaker at the Annual Gala Luncheon at noon on Saturday. This popular event includes a delicious luncheon buffet and a live auction.  Tickets are $125 each and include admission to the Concours.

Now in its 18th year, Concours d’Elegance was created by Gail and John Kautz.  Both farmers and vintners, they envisioned an event that would benefit young people involved in agriculture, notably 4-H Clubs, Future Farmers of America and the California State Fair Scholarship Fund.  From that initial idea, The Ironstone Concours d’Elegance Foundation has raised more than $700,000 since inception.  In 2013, through the proceeds of Concours d’Elegance, a $130,000 pledge was completed to assist in the development of the Future Farmers of America State Headquarters Building in Galt, California.
