December is three months away. But every moment between now and then will count for a group of young students at Manteca’s Universal Dance Company.

The students and their parents will need to raise money for a trip to Disneyland theme park in Southern California where they will be performing along the Main Street of the international-renowned vacation destination and top attraction.

“This will be an opportunity for them to perform,” dance studio owner Nicole Cedano said at the yard-sale fund-raiser on Friday which was one of the fund-raising venues that they are holding for the upcoming trip.

They will need approximately $800 per child for the trip. This year, it will be a two-day event instead of just one as they have done in past years, Cedano said. On the first day, the young dancers will be performing at Disneyland. The second day, they will take their performance to the Grand Californian.

Cedano does not have an exact count on the number of students who will be going, but in previous years they have as many 20 students in the group. Some of the families drive to the theme park while others fly, she said.

The yard-sale fund-raiser continues today in front of the dance studio at 702 W. Yosemite Ave. which starts at 8 a.m.

Universal Dance Studio opened 18 years ago and is located in one of Manteca’s oldest buildings. It served as a church for many years before the dance studio took over the corner building.
