Donna Parks has served on the Ripon Unified school board since 2006.

Monday’s meeting will mark the end of service for the board president of the past two years. She’ll be stepping down after completing her second term.

Trustees will recognize Parks for her years of service during the 7 p.m. open session at Ripon Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

In her place will be Chad Huskey, no stranger to the district after serving on numerous groups including the Measure G Citizens’ Oversight Committee. He, along with incumbents Ernie Tyhurst and Kit Oase, ran unopposed in the recent election.

Vice President Oase will administer the oath of office to Huskey, who will be the Trustee Area 1 representative.

The board will also have its annual organizational meeting, calling for the election of a new board president and, possibly, vice president and clerk.

In addition, trustees will look to appoint Superintendent Bill Draa as their board secretary and submit a request for the continued use of the Council Chambers from the City of Ripon.

As part of filling the vacancy left by Huskey on Measure G committee, Draa will present his recommendation for two representatives to fill those spots.

Other agenda items include:

• The board approving the new hire substitutes, consisting of Gina Jackson as a classified sub at Weston School, and Megan Hern (certified), Elisabeth Oosterman (certificated) and Ryann Christensen (certified) at the district office.

• Trustees will recognize a student as winner of the Hospice of San Joaquin Tree of Lights art program.

• They’ll hear a presentation by student representative Eleanor Waters and RUSD Director of Student Services Lisa Chaney, who will talk about the Read 180 program.
