Valton Boyles

Valton Boyles, 89, of Susanville, CA passed away peacefully on January 31, 2009.  

He was born December 29, 1919 in Hartshorn, OK, to the late John & Virginia Boyles.  He is survived by his children: Mary Hopewell and husband Leo Bruce of Napa; John V. Boyles & wife Diana of Yuba City; and Bobby O. Boyles & wife Pamela of Pottsboro, TX.  Grandchildren include: David Boyles, Christina Boyles, Monica (Gonzalves) Boyles, Daisea (Raniey) Boyles; Jennifer (Morrell) Boyles, Lindsay Boyles, Rachelle Boyles, Bobby Boyles, Jr., and Hollee Boyles. Great-grandchildren are Brian Jr. and David Jr.

Mr. Boyles proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  During his 25 years of military service he and his family traveled throughout several European cities such as Paris, France; London England; Shannon, Ireland; Heidelburg, Frankford, Kaiserslautern, Mannheim and Schweinfurt, Germany before returning to Fort Ord, CA, where he retired from active duty. Valton continued to serve his country in Civil Service, at Fort Ord, for 15 more years.

Valton was a loyal hard working man, always willing to lend a helping hand.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and loving heart. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and traveling to National Parks and Forests. Valton had a great love of the land especially the area at Eagle Lake.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, February 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at  P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 North Union Road, Manteca.  Graveside services will be following at 1:30 p.m. at Park View Cemetery, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be sent to Camp Ronald McDonald, P.O. Box 172, Susanville, CA 96130.  All arrangements are under the direction of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at Eagle Lake in the late spring or early summer.
