RIPON - The Ripon Arts League, now completing its 15th season, will host the Gospel Creek Bluegrass Band this coming Tuesday, March 9.

Transforming the music of Appalachia, Gospel Creek has played both bluegrass and gospel music over the last 20 years primarily in the Oakland/Bay Area.  With rich sounds from guitar, banjo, fiddle and bass the group captures the sounds of early America and is still going strong today.  Attendees will experience not only gentle and soaring vocal harmonies but superb instrumental work as well.

Gospel Creek is the final concert of the RAL season. Show time is at 7:30 p.m. at the Ripon High School Multipurpose Room.  Memberships are $30 for the five-concert season and single concert admission is available for this concert only at $15.  Plans are already nearing completion for the 2010-11 season.  The Ripon community may begin subscribing for that series beginning in mid-May.

Among the songs that will be performed March 9 are: Old Joe Clark, Amazing Grace, Take Me Back, Sweet Hour of Prayer, Cross “n” the Creek, Nellie Kane, Fiddler’s Dream and Shenandoah.

The Ripon Arts League promotes the enjoyment of music in a wide number of styles each season.  This years concerts included: big band, pop tunes from the 40’s to 90’s, country and a’cappella singing.  The group has over 500 members from Ripon and surrounding communities.
