Planet Party Day is coming.

On Thursday, April 15, some 2,000 sixth-grade students of the Manteca Unified School District will receive a lesson about conservation and agriculture, clean air, energy, green innovations, water and recycling.

Planet Party Day is an event featuring displays, demonstrations and interactive exhibits, and is being made possible by MUSD, Manteca Unified Student Trust, and the Leadership on Green Initiatives Committee.

This day promises to present new opportunities for students in enhancing awareness and stewardship of the environment, according to co-chairs Victoria Brunn and Jason Osborn.

Youngsters will have a chance to visit an array of exhibits, with hopes here of creating dialogue with experts in the various fields.

Planet Party Day is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the district office complex, 2271 W. Louise Ave.

The district, meanwhile, is still in need of sponsors and presenters.

Thus far, sponsors include PG&E, Sara Lee, CBC Steel Buildings, Big Valley Ford-Lincoln-Mercury, and Frito Lay, to name a few.

Presenters will be asked to give 15-minute talks to groups of 35 students, inspiring them to becoming better stewards of their environment.

More information can be obtained by logging on to the district website, www.mantecausd.net (click on to LOGIC for registration forms).
