Spring is here and it’s finally time for GK Music Winter Bands to show off all their hard work at a live performance set for Saturday, March 20, from noon to 8 p.m. at The Barkin’ Dog Grill in Modesto.

GK Music’s owner, Gordon Kennedy, started the Winter Band program in 2008 as an offshoot of his very popular and successful Summer Band Program which has a history of 15 years. Kennedy noticed the students from his summer program had a desire to branch out from performing and learn the writing and recording process and thus the Winter Band experience became a reality.

GK Music is proud to have seven bands who have worked hard on original material for the last eight weeks. Forty students will showcase their music this Saturday in Modesto, followed by a recording session at GK Music, culminating in a compilation CD of 14 songs ranging from indie to progressive rock.

The Winter Band Concert will be held at 940 11th Street in Modesto. For anyone interested in tickets, Kennedy’s band programs or recording, please contact GK Music at 923-4121. Or stop in and visit the new facility at 572 Commerce Court in Manteca. GK Music also offers private music lessons, including guitar, bass, brass, woodwinds, drums, piano and voice. Jazz band and choir programs will also begin soon. Please visit GK Music’s website at www.gkmusic.org to learn more about these programs and to meet GKs professional and experienced teachers.
