Man shoots himself in neck at gun range

FRESNO . (AP) — A man shot himself in the neck during target practice at a Central California shooting range.

The Fresno Bee Tuesday that police say the 52-year-old man had a single gunshot wound on the left side of his neck, below the ear. His name was not released.

Police were dispatched to the Range Pistol Club Monday afternoon after the staff there provided medical aid to the man.

The man was taken to a hospital and was reported to be in critical but stable condition Tuesday. Police say it appears the man will survive.

Police said they don’t know whether the man accidentally shot himself or if the shooting was a suicide attempt, the newspaper reports. An investigation is ongoing.
