Ripon, Sierra tie in non-league football encounter

After a scoreless first half, Ripon High’s Nate Morrow scored from one yard out midway in the fourth quarter to tie the game and that score held as the Indians and Sierra sophomore teams played to a 14-14 non-league tie Friday night at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium. 

 The Timberwolves’ Damon Duran (11 carries, 88 yards) scored on 43-yard run in the third quarter to put Sierra ahead 7-0 and after Ripon’s Tino Raygoza pulled in an 8-yard scoring pass from Ryan Daggett (7 of 11 passing, 96 yards) later in the third period to tie the score at 7-7, Duran scored from 23 yards out early in the fourth period to spot the Timberwolves to a 14-7 lead. 

 Murrow led the Indians with 60 yards on 14 carries. James Gaalswk helped save the tie for the Indians with an interception on the last play of the game and teammate Gamino Cameron had a first-quarter fumble recovery. 

 Caden Worth was 11 of 20 passing for 60 yards for the Timberwolves. Angelo Talamontes had an interception for Sierra, Carson Anderson a fumble recovery and Kenny Wade helped set up Duran’s touchdowns with kickoff returns of 30 and 40 yards.   

 

Manteca 24, Buhach

 Kyle Rachels threw a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Buffaloes to a non-league victory at Guss Schmiedt Field. 

 Rachels (8 of 18 passing, 139 yards) had a third-quarter scoring throw of 25 yards to Presley Keltner (two catches, 83 yards) and one in the fourth to Matthew Ender of 12 yards. Seth Owings (14 carries, 115 yards) had a 45-yard touchdown run and Ender added a seven-yard touchdown run.

 Kobe Shipley had nine tackles and two forced fumbles to lead the Manteca defense. Keltner had an interception and forced a fumble at the goal line and Jacob Moon had an interception to round out the Buffaloes effort that included shutting out the Thunder in the second half.

 

Lathrop 26, West 6

 

Michael Ramos led the Spartans with 20 carries for 207 yards and four touchdowns in the non league win over the Wolf Pack at Bennie Gatto Field.

 Ramos scored on runs of 3, 4, 11 and 68 yards. Keonee Linnell was 3 of 9 passing for 52 yards and Mattox Harrell had three receptions for 42 yards.
