Candy, kids, and eggs can only mean one thing – it’s time for community Easter egg hunts.

There is a free egg hunt today, at least two free egg hunts Saturday and at least one Sunday.

The biggest of them all is the free Manteca Noon Kiwanis annual Easter egg hunt that is expected to draw upwards of 1,500 kids to the Northgate Park softball complex Saturday.

They are there for one thing and one thing only – to find as many of the 10,000 plastic eggs filled with candy that they can hunt once the signal to start is given.

Each kid in three different age groups gets a free ticket for a chance to win toys, Easter baskets, and age-appropriate bicycles.

The organizers are serious when they say arrive well before 11 a.m. as the whistle goes off at 11 a.m. sharp. Less than 90 seconds later the fields are picked clean.

There’s plenty of parking at Northgate Park, Neil Hafley School and McFall School but you still have to walk to the field. Getting to the vicinity of the park 10 minutes beforehand and thinking you’re going to find a parking place and on the field by 11 a.m. is near impossible.

The event is open to kids 4 to 10 years of age.

Ripon hunt Saturday
Ripon’s Community Easter Egg hunt is this Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mavis Stouffer Park.

Calvary Reformed Church is sponsoring the free event. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. The event is designed for all children fourth grade and younger. For more information go to www.calvaryripon.org or call 599-4294.

Free egg hunt today
The public is invited to bring their kids to join the residents of The Commons at Union Ranch, 2241 N. Union Road, next door to Del Webb at Woodbridge to enjoy a free Easter egg hunt, and Easter Bunny visit, a petting zoo and refreshments.

The celebration is from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Call The Commons at 463-9100 for more information.

Egg hunt Sunday
Cornerstone Community Church, 17900 Comconex Road off East Highway 120 east of Manteca, is having a free Willy Wonka Easter egg hunt at noon Sunday for ages 3 to 12 following the second service.

Services are at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. with the message entitled “The Door.”
