Two promotions within the Manteca Fire Department complemented each other as Fire Captain Bill Canfield became a battalion chief and Nick Haas filled the role of captain.
Both men worked last week’s major $200,000 house fire on Brookdale Way that saw flames engulf a garage and smoke fill a home.  Two sport motorcycles were destroyed along with other personal family items.
Canfield joined the Manteca department in July of 1998.  His son Matt is a reserve firefighter and also an ambulance emergency medical technician (EMT).
Captain Haas became part of the Manteca fire team in 2007.  He is the son of former Manteca Fire Chief Chris Haas.  At the same time Ryan Avant was promoted to the rank of Engineer.  Avant joined the Manteca Fire Department in 2008. Together they represent 25 years of service to the citizens of Manteca.
Aimee Rubio was transferred from the city finance department to fill the position of Fire Department secretary filling the post long held by Debbie Williams who retired last month after a lengthy tenure.
