A green 1996 Ford Mustang crashed through a garage at 6 a.m. Saturday and then continued into a house in the 1100 block of Virginia Street.

Manteca Police Sergeant Jody Estarziau said that some 40 minutes after the crash a caller reported his vehicle had been warming up in front of home in the 300 block of Michigan Street only blocks away when it was carjacked.

The caller said he and a friend were getting ready to go to work, however he didn’t know the name of the friend, he added.  He claimed that he and his friend were accosted by three Hispanic adults who drove away in the vehicle.

Sgt. Estarziau said city workers were called to determine whether the home was still inhabitable after uprights at the corner of the dwelling were damaged.  She noted that the car appeared to be totaled with damage running the length of the vehicle after it had gone through a section of the house.

Neighbors told police that they witnessed two males in dark clothing walk down the sidewalk away from the crash scene following the impact that caused the airbags to deploy.

Firefighters and two ambulances responded to the scene; however no one in the home sustained injuries.

Dog stolen from animal shelter
Four hours earlier police responded to a fight between women in the parking lot of a sports lounge on North Main Street.  Sgt. Estarziau said that the fight spread to men in the area with a 24-year-old male being stabbed in the right cheek of his buttocks. The victim told police he had no idea who had assaulted him. He was treated at Doctors Hospital and released.

Sometime prior to 6 a.m. on Saturday an unknown person cut his way into the animal control dog pens on Wetmore Avenue leaving a three foot hole in the fence.  Missing was a four-year-old, black and white female pit bull named “Munsa.”
The dog was quarantined due to attacking another dog.
