T’Wolves more than enough for Manteca

Sierra High used a pair of first-half goals to cruise past the Manteca Buffaloes 2-0 in Valley Oak League soccer action Thursday.

Asia Cortez got the Timberwolves on the board in the game’s sixth minute, converting on a penalty kick opportunity. Less than 10 minutes later, Jacx Revives would add the game’s final goal and Sierra keeper Lia Unterholzner fought off injury to protect the shutout.

Oakdale 3, East Union 1
East Union was only able to reach the back of the net once, and that wouldn’t be enough as the Lancers fell to Oakdale 3-1 Thursday.

Gagenpreet Kaur made good on East Union’s only goal, converting on an assit from Shaun Nash. East Union improved over the final 40 minutes, holding Oakdale to just one shot on goal in the second-half.

East Union 8, Sonora 2
The Lancers rode the right arm of Jenny Ketner to their fifth win on the VOL season.

Ketner tossed seven innings for East Union, holding Sonora to five hits and two runs in the complete-game win. Ketner also made her presence felt in the batter’s box, going 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs.

Alexis Scopas went 1 for 1 with an RBI, while Lauren Hart was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.

Manteca 9, C. Valley 8
Manteca only needed 20 of its 21 outs, scoring the game-winning-run in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs.

T.J. Galdo smashed a bases-loaded triple to tie the game up at 8-8, and Isaiah Stephen put the ball in play to short and an errant throw gave the Buffaloes (2-4, 5-6-1) the come-from-behind victory.

Raymond Tinnin was the winning pitcher, while Phillip Herrera led Manteca with a 4 for 4 day at the plate.
