Today’s big crosstown baseball game between Ripon and Ripon Christian is a no go.

The Trans Valley League contest is one of many area events postponed because of Tuesday morning rainstorm.

Valley Oak League and TVL baseball, softball, golf and tennis matches originally scheduled for Tuesday were called off, but four VOL soccer games were played without precipitation.

The Ripon-RC baseball and softball games have been moved to Monday, 4 p.m. and will take place at RC. In baseball, both schools are locked in a heated four-team race for three Sac-Joaquin Section Division V playoff spots, with Escalon leading the charge at 6-1, RC at 5-2 and Ripon and Modesto Christian tied for third at 4-3.

In the VOL, four series will now open on Thursday with Tuesday’s games postponed for Friday.

The biggest games this week involve undefeated Sonora (8-0, 13-2 overall) and third-place Manteca (6-2, 11-6-1). Manteca will host the opener Thursday and head to Sonora Friday.

Sierra (5-2, 10-6) will head to Ceres (4-4, 10-8-1) Friday after hosting the Bulldogs Thursday for another two-game set with playoff implications. The East Union-Central Valley and Oakdale-Weston Ranch series will follow the same pattern.
