Freshman quarterback Niko Ilardi hit fellow freshman Dorian Dougherty with a 60-yard touchdown toss for his first of three touchdowns throws for the Indians as they claimed a 46-24 victory over visiting Mountain House in Trans Valley League junior varsity football action on Friday night.

Ilardi added two more touchdown passes in the first half – one of 35-yards to freshman Troy Brogan and the other to Justin Hansen. Ilardi did not throw an incomplete pass.

Austin Nguyen scored twice in the first quarter for Ripon, once on a 2-yard run and again when he recovered a Mustangs fumble in the end zone. Dougherty ended the first quarter with an interception that set up a touchdown on a halfback pass from freshman Brandon Rainer to freshman Aiden Benzinger. Later in second the quarter Ripon’s defense stood tall again, stopping the Mustangs on fourth down with a huge sack by freshman Caleb Delgado.

Benziger killed a potential scoring drive by Mountain House late in the second quarter with an interception in the Mustangs end zone and the Indians capped their scoring in the second half with a short touchdown run by freshman Danny Hernandez in the third quarter.
