Cinco de Mayo fiesta Saturday at Promenade

This year’s South County Cinco de Mayo “Fiesta Day!” hosted by the South San Joaquin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be held on Saturday, May 8, at The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the celebration to enjoy the entertainment, exhibitors and food vendors, beer garden, the entertainment on the performance stage, and the children’s activities and rides.

Events will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley on the southeast corner of the Highway 120 Bypass and Union Road.. The Fiesta will be held in the west of Bass Pro in the Best Buy and JC Penney parking lots. The featured entertainment is the well known Latin Magic Band from 3 to 6 p.m. Supporters of the event include the Chambers of Commerce of Tracy, Manteca, Lathrop and Ripon. Each will have booths. The Cinco de Mayo event is held in partnership with the non-profit California Business Association, Inc.

The event is almost a sell-out with only six vendor exhibit spaces available. For vendor space availability information, contact 209-923-4411. Additional information and Vendor Agreements are posted on the Chamber website at www.HispanicChamberSJC.org and can be submitted until May 5.

The entertainment schedule is as follows:
•10 a.m. - National Anthem sung by Amanda
•10:15 a.m. - Launchpad
•11:45 a.m. - Manteca Youth Focus
•1 p.m. - Funtastics
•1:30 p.m. - DJ Music
•3 to 6 p.m. -  Latin Magic

The Chamber serves the interests of Hispanic and non-Hispanic businesses and the economic development and community interests in South San Joaquin County. Chamber membership includes major corporations, businesses, mom and pop operations, non-profits and individuals interested in supporting the Chamber and furthering growth of the area. Membership growth has more than doubled in the past year. The Chamber hosts free monthly Business Networking Mixers that are open to non-members as well. They are held the second Wednesday of every month. A list of future events are listed on the Chamber’s website. The next mixers will be May 12 at Elegant Image Laser Spa, 507 E. Center St., Manteca, then on June 9 at Best Buy, 934 Perimeter Drive, Manteca and July 14 at Ed’s Rockery, 60008 E. Lathrop Road, Manteca.

Business development and retention are the primary goals of the chamber. It is a voluntary membership organization of individuals, businesses, corporations, associations and non-profits. The Chamber’s efforts focus on encouraging and promoting beneficial business activities. The membership serves as an active and visible advocate for the exchange of information, ideas, and economic opportunities and growth. It provides assistance and support to businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals through programs such as free business networking, educational development, events and seminars.
