The City of Ripon has an established rental fee schedule for its facilities.

For the most part, this covers the cost of the operations and the maintenance expense. Any revenue received from the rental fees are tracked in the City’s general fund, according to City Administrator Kevin Werner.

At Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting, he’s scheduled to be on hand to discuss the facility fee waiver policy.

In the past, elected leaders have provided one-time rental fee waivers and on-going fee waivers to the Ripon Chamber of Commerce, for starters, to host the Almond Blossom Festival at the Community Center and the Mistlin Sports Park.

The Ripon Chiefs youth football program and Ripon Babe Ruth youth baseball program receive fee waivers for use of the Community Center fields.

“Typically included in these fee schedules are reductions of rental fees for Ripon residents and local non-profit organizations,” said Werner in his staff report. “The only fee waiver provided is for governmental agencies renting the council chambers during normal business hours.

“Outside of that, there are no provisions for fee waivers or a policy that provides staff with criteria to provide a fee waiver.”

Council has requested to look at this policy during the 6 p.m. open session in the Council Chamber, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

Other agenda items include:

uMayor Dean Uecker requesting Council to reconsider Spring Clean-up options other than the recently proposed one that calls for residents to haul off their trash to the corporate yard.

uStaff providing a water conservation update on the state’s regulations and Ripon’s continuing efforts to conserve water usage.

uElected leaders looking at proposed ordinance on standards for the placement of cargo containers, storage containers and construction dumpsters with the City of Ripon.
