Northgate Braves fend off Phillies in high-scoring majors win

The Phillies put up five runs in the bottom of the sixth but that was not quite enough as the Braves hung on for a 14-13 win in Northgate Little League majors action on Gillen Field.
Two of those sixth-inning runs for the Phillies came off the bat of Quinn Martinez (double, three runs) on a towering fly ball to right field that was misplayed.
Back-to-back RBI doubles by Tyler Looney (3 for 4, three RBI, two doubles) and Justin Severson (double, RBI, three runs) in the top of the gave the Braves all the insurance they would need.
Corwin Snyder scored four runs for the  Braves and Sage Burdenveue scored three.
 
Triple-A
Pirates 5, A’s 0
D’Angelo Canela was 2 for 2 with a double and a triple for the Pirates and Vinny Sanchez had a hit and a stolen base.
Angelo Canela started on the mound for the Pirates and pitched 4.2 innings of no-hit ball with 11 strikeouts. Andrew Viri pitched went the last 1.1 innings with one hit and had two fielding assists.
Calvin Ryans III singled for the A’s and Nicholas Garcia had five strikeouts in 2.1 innings.

Cubs 17, Lathrop
Little League Yankees 7
Carson Smith hit for the cycle for the Cubs, getting the single and home run in the first inning.
Cubs leadoff batter James Dennis was 3 for 4 with four runs and teammate Zach Anderson was 3 for 4 with a double and a pair of runs. Smith, Nick Grabowski, Dennis and John Paul Campos combined their pitching efforts with Smith starting and Campos closing.
 
Yankees 13, Brewers 5
Blake Mejorado belted a home run, triple and double for the Yankees, scoring twice and knocking in three runs.
Junior Pelicas was 2 for 3 with a two-RBI double and two runs for the Yankees and Rafael Aguilar was 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs.
Wyatt Defrenchi started on the hill for the Yankees and went 3.1 innings with four strikeouts, two hits and two runs and was relieved by Rex Watson (six strikeouts, two hits, three runs) for two innings. Mejorado came on for the final two outs.
Ty Curry had a two-RBI home run for the Brewers and Colton Murillo (2 for 3) had a two-RBI double.
 
Giants 7, A’s 2
 JoJo Brizuela was 2 for 3 with a pair of triples and three runs for the Giants and Eli Terpsma (2 for 3) added a run.
The Giants used four pitchers. Reese George started and went 2.2 innings with six strikeouts one run and one hit followed by Michael George (three strikeouts, hit) for 1.1 innings, JoJo Brizuela (strikeout, hit) for an inning before Eli Terpsma (two strikeouts, two hits, run) closed the game out for the last inning.
Tyler Paul Wentworth scored both runs for the A’s, going 3 for 3 with a home run and a double.
