Manteca High qualified for the Valley Oak League Championship Tournament Wednesday by edging out Sierra in a three-way match played at the Manteca Park Golf Course.
The season-ending event will take place May 1 at Castle Oaks Golf Course in Ione.
The Buffaloes (5-10 VOL) squeaked past the Timberwolves, 246-247.
Weston Ranch, at 277, was third but had a medalist in Austin Thao, who shot a 3-over-par 40 in the nine-hole course.
Ruben Hurtado led Manteca with a 43. Teammates Dylan Haro (47) and Nathan Ibe (47) finished four strokes back. Matsua Garcia-Mendez (51), Adrian Gonzales (58) and Adrian Burenrostro (58) rounded out the tally.
Jackie Thai (46), the No. 5 player, paced Sierra, finishing ahead of Evan Brazell (48), Damien Simon (48), Antonio Samson (49), David Perry (56) and Michael Erdman (60).
The Cougars’ scoring also included Lorenzo Galfo (48), Justin Ordner (57), Manuel Hale (61), David Corona (71) and Alejandro Diaz (73).

Lathrop disqualified
TRACY – The Spartans’ Christian Guzman fired a one-over-par 37 at Old River Golf Course to earn medalist honors on Wednesday.
Lathrop had only two more golfers — Luke Marcelo (51) and Sebastian Iniguez (62) – so they were forced to forfeit the Valley Oak League match
Ezra Lenhardt paced the Lancers with a 39. Tyler Griggs (41), Kyle Dorland (43), Braydon Goodenough (45) and Brandon Ugalino (55) rounded out the East Union attack.
