Aztecs win MYSA title

It took the International Tiebreaker to decide the Manteca Youth Softball Association varsity championship Saturday night with the No. 3 Aztecs downing the top-seeded Warriors in nine innings at Big League Dreams.
In the top of the ninth for the Azteca (11-4-1), Trinidad Forbing (2 for 3) laid down a perfect bunt to scored Rayana Ladd to take the lead at 4-3.  In the bottom of the ninth, the Aztecs maintained their slim margin and Natalie Mejia (2 for 3) ended the game with the final putout to first.
Caitlin Morrow belted a two-run homerun to make it to give the Aztecs a 3-0 lead in the fourth following a pair of singles by Payton Perez (2 for 3) and Elizabeth Johnson.  
The Warriors (11-3-2) answered back in the bottom of the fifth when Lela Schluer (2 for 3), Danelle King (2 for 3), and Heighlee Mosher (2 for 3) belted singles that scored Eden Botta (2 for 3) and Brooke Grabowski (two walks) to draw the Warriors within 3-2. Genavieve Gaines ripped a two-out home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 3-all and force extra innings.
Brooke Grabowski of the Warriors and Caitlin Morrow of the Aztecs dueled from the chalked circle for all nine innings, keeping the game scoreless for three innings. 
 
Northgate Majors
Braves 14, White Sox 5
The Braves scored seven runs in the first inning.
Sage Bordenave paced the Braves attack, going 4 for 4 with two RBI, two doubles and two runs.
Joaquin Mantua (3 for 4) and Tyler Looney each added a home run, three RBI and two runs and
Connor Bowman was 2 for 4 with three runs.
Dylan Lee homered twice for the White Sox., going 3 for 4 three RBI and three runs and Diego Gonzales was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs.
 
Spreckels Park Majors
Giants 16, Dodgers 6
The Giants scored nine runs in the second on hits by Zac Cook, Caliyann Craig, Noah Aguirre, K.P. Chahal and a home run by Kainoa Ontai.
The Giants started the game with five runs in the first on hits by Ontai, Aguirre, Adrien Aguirre and Kyle Bagley. The Giants scored their final two runs on a home run by Cook and hits by Sante Duarte and Noah Aguirre.
Duarte pitched three scoreless innings.
 
Manteca Majors
A’s 8, Giants 5
Tyler Paul Wentworth was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two runs for the A’s (8-6).
Zach Johnson (2 for 2, two runs) and Garrison Reis (run) each had a double for the A’s. Wentworth and Johnson combined for 15 strikeouts while allowing just four hits.
Landon Chamberlain (home run) and Eli Terpsma (double, triple, two runs) were each 2 for 3 for the Giants (12-2). Chamberlain, JoJo Brizuela and Reece George shared the pitching duties for the Giants, allowing five hits and four walks while striking out 10.
 
Yankees 11, Cubs 1 (4)
The Yankees (9-5) scored six runs in the second inning.
Colton Stonum (home run, three runs) and Rafael Aguilar (run) were each 3 for 3 for the Yankees. Blake Mejorado was 2 for 2 with two runs with Andrew Robison (walk) and Angelo Cervantes both getting a double and a run.
Rex Watson and Mejorado combined for five strikeouts, walking four and allowing five hits.
Carson Smith scored the lone Cubs run. Smith and Mark Lopez-Smith pitched for the Cubs (7-7) and struck out four.
 
Brewers 8,
Lathrop Yankees 6 
The Brewers (6-8) tallied seven of their eight runs in the third and fifth innings.
Connor Navarro (walk, home run) and Colton Murillo (two doubles) were both 2 for 2 with two runs for the Brewers. Ty Curry (home run), Micah English (double) and Chris Chavez were each 2 for 3 and Andrew Maki walked and scored two runs.
Maki and Micah Saldana combined for 12 strikeouts while allowing nine hits and just two walks.

Northgate Triple-A
Nationals 15, Pirates 6
The Nationals scored five runs in both the first and third innings on the way to a playoff win.
Xavier Gaspar (two singles) and Tyler Watkins both had a double three RBI and a double for the Nationals. Rudy Barney added a double and a single.
Brendan Carter (two RBI) and Andrew Viri each had a single for the Pirates.
