Cowan’s homer leads Modesto over Stockton

MODESTO (AP) — Jordan Cowan hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, leading the Modesto Nuts to a 4-3 win over the Stockton Ports on Wednesday.

Matthew Festa allowed a run, but got Sandber Pimentel to ground out with a runner on first to end the game for his seventh save of the season.

The home run by Cowan scored Joe Rizzo and Arturo Nieto to give the Nuts a 4-2 lead.

In the top of the ninth, Stockton cut into the deficit on a single by Mikey White that scored Brett Siddall.

Starter Nathan Bannister (9-7) got the win while Angel Duno (8-10) took the loss in relief in the California League game.
